GASTRO: ENDOSCOPIC RETROGRADE CHOLANGIOPANCREATOSCOPY | AHED HANDS-ON COURSE

The first edition of the Gastro: Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatoscopy Hands-On course took place on March 11th & 12th 2022. This course was comprised of live video procedures combined training with clinical cases in digital simulators, as well as training using mechanical simulators. The course was exclusively dedicated to basic training in CPRE. With the objective of providing participants with knowledge that is not available and/or not transmitted at participants' learning centres. Learning objectives of the course: 1. Introduction to ERCP, ability to set up a CPRE room, and selection of duodenoscopes 2. Choice of radiation enhancers and shields (lead screens, detectors and coats) 3. Existing devices in the room and how to place/number them 4. Appropriate selection of patients, how to prepare a shift and how to predict/avoid/handle complications 5. Appropriate selection of imaging technicians, anaesthesiologists and nurses. What training/experience is essential 6. How to classify and approach a papilla. Positions of the duodenoscope. Selection of devices and basic cannulation techniques 7. Sphincterotomy - utensils and how to do it 8.When cannulation is difficult and how to try to get around the difficulty with advanced techniques 9.
