Would you hike a volcano knowing you risked getting robbed when you reach the summit? That's not the type of question I thought we'd ever have to answer before a hike, but then again, we're not in Europe. We started our journey in Antigua, the old capital of Guatemala, and took a bus to Panajachel, a picturesque Mayan town on the shore of lake Atitlan. San Pedro Volcano is one of the three main volcanoes towering over Lake Atitlán. Together with Volcan Tomilan and Volcan Atitlan, it paints an unforgettable picture when you arrive at lake Atitlans shores. The hike to the summit of San Pedro Volcano starts from the town of San Pedro La Laguna. From fellow hikers to the guides and all the way to the tour operators we met, everyone knows the sad truth. If you do the San Pedro hike, you might have the misfortune of getting robbed by thieves at its summit - a quick Google search can confirm all of this. Fortunately, we didn't experience any of this, even though we did it unguided. Instead, we had an unforgettable adventure, heard some crazy stories, and ultimately, lived to hike another day. Guatemala, you're beautiful. My links: ►Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/traintosumm... ►Website - https://www.traintosummit.com/
