I had a breakthrough with the arcade version of Columns III, breaking 10 minutes for the first time by over 20 seconds and even being one mummy magic gem breakage away from the 9m 30s mark as well. Things like that will happen even with "breakthrough PB" speedruns like this... My previous best had been 10m 9.47s just manually timed on my phone at the arcade without recording. Timing starts on the frame the countdown timer to select the entrance to the pyramid reaches zero (just letting the timer run out, not pressing any button, just starting it on Hard then and the frame immediately before it starts fading is the "start frame") and ends on the first frame the screen is completely black after beating the sphinx, before the credits roll. I retimed it to 9m 38.133s (9m 38s and 4 frames out of 30) on https://retime.mcbe.wtf/ Mod Note: Retimed (Start Frame: 7940, End Frame: 25284, FPS: 30, Total Time: 9:38.133) This version of the game is not on Speedrun.com. The leaderboard times on that site are for the Genesis version, which has 11 enemies instead of just 8, 2 out of 3 matches instead of just single rounds (making for 22 rounds for a "perfect clear" vs. 8 for a 1CC here) and the addition of flashing gems which give "poisons" to your opponent when cleared, as well as items you collect along the way that can actually help you defeat the mummy and sphinx at the end quicker, if you get the right ones (their use is allowed on that game on the site.) My time for that version is 30 minutes and 8 seconds, which is a slow time by comparison even considering what I just described, so I will be going after that version to improve next. If I can get this arcade run, I can probably get at least one place up on the leaderboard for the Genesis version.
