We know that big bucks spawn from a healthy herd, and by targeting reproductive health and proper body maintenance, and combining that with antler-building nutrients, you can be sure your bucks will achieve optimal growth, and your herd will be healthy and productive. Rut Talk Audrey Pfaffe- Hunting Biography...I was born and raised in Black River Falls, WI. My family lives and breathes hunting, fishing, and farming, so naturally, loving the outdoors is in my DNA. Rut Talk Being an only child, I was my daddy’s little girl as well as the son he never had. I’d change out of my pink church dress after service on Sunday into jeans and mud boots to help my dad feed cows then head out hunting or fishing for the evening. I was catching brook trout in the creek at my grandparent’s house, as well as tagging along bow hunting when I was only 2 years old. For my 10th birthday I received a Red Rider BB gun and was taught all the ins and outs of gun safety, responsible handling, and how to shoot. “Wisconsin Deer Camp” Of course, I always came with on deer drives during the nostalgic “Wisconsin Deer Camp” every gun season, and loved to come along tracking deer and following blood trails. When I was 12 my dad bought me my first deer rifle, a .243 Remington model 7, and that fall I killed my first deer with it. A 5-point buck, on the second to last day of deer season, at 350 yards! The following year my parents got me my first bow, and my love of archery blossomed. A year later I killed a beauty 8 point at 35 yards, my first bow kill! Field dressing, skinning, and processing of the meat was a skill I had been taught at an early age, and to this day I won’t let anyone else gut my deer. It’s part of being a responsible hunter that has been instilled in me and I will pass down to my children someday. You kill it, you take care of it, you eat it. You kill it, you take care of it, you eat it. My teen years were consumed with hunting and fishing, as well as my other life’s passion: raising and showing livestock. Instead of going to playing sports and partying like most of my high school peers, I would much rather scout velvet bucks, film bachelor groups, check trail cameras, shoot archery league, and escape to the tree stand every chance I could get. After graduation in 2008 I attended UW Stevens Point for a semester to major in Wildlife Research and Management. However, the distance away from the farm life and family was difficult to deal with, and I came back home for the spring semester. The following summer I enrolled in CVTC in Eau Claire for the Agriscience Technician program, where I double majored in Animal Science and Agronomy. where I double majored in Animal Science and Agronomy. There, I met my husband Andrew (also an avid outdoorsman) and we dated all through college. Our entire relationship has revolved around the outdoors. In fact, our first date was bow hunting whitetails, and he proposed to me the following year while on my very first turkey hunt. Before I had met Andrew, I had never hunted anything other than deer (and the occasional rabbit or squirrel in the yard!). He introduced me to waterfowl hunting, which has actually become a big part of my life. He also got me into turkey hunting, and I killed my first tom at 15 yards in the spring of 2014. In 2013 I put my Animal Science degree to work, and started my business Monarch Whitetail Nutrition, LLC. Since then I have formulated two mineral mixes, GOLD RUSH and GOLD RUSH D.E. and we have customers in 9 states.
