Hello you lovely people, what a beautiful day to explore downtown Shanghai for some amazing street food! Today I’m at Zhe Jiang Zhong Lu one of the oldest streets in Shanghai, and it’s actually known as a halal/ muslim street, we are going on a street food adventure and ending with some of the most mouthwatering Chinese muslim food, it’s going to be great, the best is at the end! Stinky Tofu- 辣王辣后 Right, till this day I have never tried stinky tofu, partially because it literally smells like the sewers. I honestly don’t understand the craze, but there are many people giving this place the best reviews, I’m going to try it, going to be brave today! This bowl here, mixed with intestines, and a bunch of chillies. Corr, the smell, it smells like actual beep, oh dear. You know what, it doesn’t taste too bad, it just taste like fried tofu, but with a pungent smell, why is there the need to add that on? God knows what they put in it to make it smell like that, this goes with the intestines honestly is one of the strangest things I have ever tried together. Next stop, look what we have here, Dalgona candy from squid games! Squid Game Dalgona Right, I’m not a person that usually jumps on hypes, but I am today, so we all know that scene from squid game with the Korean dalgona candy, and I’ve found a place that sells it in Shanghai, in this really dark and dingy alley, where all best foods are served! Look at that guy making it right in front of us, its literally sugar, and baking powder, then its pressed into these shapes. Im of course going for the iconic umbrella shaped one. The funniest thing I find about this stand is, it literally was a vendor that sold stinky tofu a few weeks ago. Now its jumped on the craze, and fair dos, what an idea! Cai Fan Sheng Jian Alright, here we have one of the oldest restaurants in Shanghai, not many of these fly restaurants left, they sell classic Shanghainese fried rice, let’s order up a bowl! First sight of some real food today, it looks pretty simple, there’s something about this taste, it’s very comforting indeed. Muslim Food Restaurant: Lamb Kebabs Look these lamb kebabs sizzling on the hot coal here, they cut it up at the butcher’s next door so it’s very fresh, the smell coming off the coal, the spices, the cumin, the chili, without tasting it I know it’s just going to melt in your mouth!
