This video was filmed during the summer and I just had a chance to upload it now. These crabs can be used for various dishes, like Som Tam Pu Dong (papaya salad with marinated crabs), Yum Pu Sod (fresh crab salad), etc... They're also good in a fish sauce marinade, or to make crab fritters and crab salsa. It's a new spot. 0:00:15 As for my tools, I have this net. 0:00:20 And this mesh bag that you get when you buy onions. 0:00:23 When you buy-- when you buy onions in bulk. 0:00:27 The onions come inside of this. 0:00:31 I'm using this thing on this... Do you know what crabs in Denmark like to eat? 0:00:36 Ham. 0:00:38 I'll put a couple of ham slices in here 0:00:43 to bait the crabs. 0:00:46 The crabs here have a fine palate, you see. 0:00:50 Now we put a rock in here too. 0:00:55 Put the rock inside this bag so that it weighs it down. 0:01:00 And now we're ready to bait them. 0:01:02 Let's go! Time to catch crabs! 0:01:56 Oh, boy! 0:02:07 So many in here. 0:02:22 It's coming, it's coming... Hi! 0:02:30 There was one! 0:02:32 Come see. Get in the water. 0:02:36 Look down in the water... see that? Yeah. 0:02:43 There are so many, darling. 0:02:46 So many. 0:02:49 So many. 0:02:50 One more. They're going crazy! 0:02:56 Take a look. Oh, boy. 0:03:01 Holy cow! 0:03:04 It's crazy. 0:03:40 One more to go. 0:03:47 One coming there... 0:03:50 There. 0:03:51 Look. They're walking. 0:03:56 There are so many. 0:04:03 It's crazy down there. 0:04:40 Let go. 0:04:49 Come on! 0:05:38 Put it in the basket. 0:05:39 I put more ham in the basket. 0:05:42 To bait the crabs. 0:05:44 I'm going to get the container now. 0:06:15 Darling, film my toes and the crabs. 0:06:19 No, no, no! 0:06:23 Look! Look! 0:06:27 Sooo many! 0:06:58 Darling, look. 0:07:14 Let go! 0:07:49 Take a look. 0:07:57 F*ck. 0:08:37 Look, look. They take the ham and then leave. 0:08:42 They take the ham and run away. 0:08:48 They like ham. 0:09:45 That's enough I think. 0:10:26 I changed my clothes already. 0:10:28 Yes, I did. 0:11:08 Here we go. 0:11:31 These are the crabs I caught yesterday. 0:11:34 I froze these overnight 0:11:37 after I cooked them last night. 0:11:38 After getting back from the beach, I cooked them right away. 0:11:43 If not, they'll turn black, or if you keep them [in the container] for long 0:11:47 that would torture them. 0:11:49 After you've caught them, do whatever you have to do to kill them fast. 0:11:55 After living here, I learned that the Danes are animal lovers. 0:11:58 They don't lock animals unnecessarily. 0:12:01 If they have to kill, they do it fast. 0:12:02 They don't keep them locked up for long. 0:12:06 That's why I had to cook them fast yesterday and they turned out really fresh. 0:12:10 And look. I got big and small crabs. 0:12:13 The small ones will be for fritters. 0:12:15 There's another bag with 1kg of small crabs . 0:12:17 These ones are the biggest I caught. 0:12:21 There's crab fat, I think, not crab eggs. 0:12:26 So buttery. 0:12:33 Here is 1 tbsp. of sugar. 0:12:41 [CC: Add 100 ml. of fish sauce.] 0:12:52 I'm going to add about 2-3 tbsps. of warm water. 0:12:55 To dilute the sauce for the crabs. 0:13:05 If you want to make a big batch, use a larger container or bowl. 0:13:09 This is for 4-5 crabs. 0:13:12 I'm going to use a rather small container 0:13:16 because I'm marinating these for only 15 minutes. 0:13:19 And then throw in a new batch. 0:13:21 I'll do this every now and then. 0:13:23 First, I won't waste too much fish sauce. 0:13:25 I don't have to use the whole bottle. 0:13:28 There it is. See? 0:13:30 Keep them marinated. 0:13:32 Normally we'd just eat the bodies, right? 0:13:37 There you go. 0:13:40 I'll freeze these ones. 0:13:42 I'm going to make crab dishes out of these, like curries and salsas. 0:13:48 Or crab fritters, something like that. Put them in there. 0:13:53 These will go into the freezer.
