St. Thomas, Ontario to Goderich Ontario for the arrival of the Avro Lancaster

The Avro Lancaster was perched on a pole in front of the Goderich airport as a static display until 60 years ago, when the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in Hamilton Ontario took ownership of it and restored it to flying condition. It is only one of two still flying in the world. I flew my Cessna 172 from St. Thomas to Goderich to witness this historic event of the aircraft returning, 60 years to the day. Goderich is such a cute town with a beautiful downtown core and many hidden gems for a bite to eat. On this day, I met a few fellow pilot friends and we rode our folding bikes into town. We stopped for fish and chips at The Old Saltie and legendary cream puff donuts from Culbert’s Bakery.
