4 years ago I stopped wearing makeup and started the journey towards loving my skin again. I’d been wearing makeup since a very early age but I was never happy with how I looked - with our without makeup. So I knew something had to change. I decided to stop wearing makeup to challenge myself to actually love my skin. To love it in the morning, after workouts, when I got embarrassed, before my period, when my skin was dry, plump, tired, happy - no matter what. In this video I share my story wearing makeup and the reasons for not wearing makeup. I also share practical tips that helped me love my skin again. I also share unedited clips and closeups of my skin to try to show a more realistic look of what my skin looks like. I’m not using any beauty filters or makeup for this video, but I’m sitting in front of a big window and I know natural lighting makes your skin a lot more even. If you’re struggling with self-confidence, or simply don’t want to wear makeup, please know that you don’t have to, and that wearing makeup isn’t “normal”. Little boys don’t wear makeup, so why do we make little girls wear makeup? Girls aren’t “interested” in makeup. We are interested, just like boys, in doing what adults do. And if all girls see is women wearing makeup, they of course want to wear makeup too. And that’s the reason little boys also like playing with makeup. Because they love their mother and want to do what she does. But I don’t think we should encourage children to wear makeup given the consequences I talk about in this video.
