As part of the Subway Action Plan, the MTA has begun a heavy-duty cleaning program in order to thoroughly wash the surfaces of subway cars and stations. Approximately 3,000 cars will be cleaned under this program starting with cars from the (7), (N), (Q), and (W) Lines. Note how the factory cars have had the bulkhead grouting either thoroughly cleaned or completely retouched whereas the converted cars did not receive that work.
