Should you buy a Toyota 4Runner? Why is this ancient truck so reliable? In this brand new series on my channel I will take you on a Journey of discovery if you would on the very popular 5th generation Toyota 4runner expanding from 2010-2021. I will go over most of the major components of the 4runner so we can find out together what makes this truck ancient and what makes it reliable. In this part of the series we'll take a deep dive into the 5th generation 4runner brakes. How they work what are the components starting with the hydro-assist unit that is basically the brains of the whole operation! Many people read about the previous generation 4runner and how booster failure rates are high and how expensive they are and wonder if the 5th generation is the same. Well what usually failed in these units was the motor and after some research there are rebuild kits that can be significantly cheaper to use than replacing the whole unit. I'll go over the hydraulic system of the 4runner brakes. I'll also cover the mechanicals of the brakes in this video.
