The Dragonfly means hope, change, and love.” This label was my first great love and will certainly be my last when it comes to Goa Trance. I'm sure everyone can tell a story about how they got into this type of techno/trance and I'm sure they're all similar because they all have something very specific in common. My musical background is actually hard rock. I grew up with this music. In 1992-1993 it must have been that a friend invited me to a trance party with DJ DAG & Sven Väth in Frankfurt. However, this party was not the only first contact with something new. My friend gave me a small pill (he called it “Technotanztablette”) and from then on my musical world was different. My love for trance (not techno) was awakened. However, at one point the trance scene, especially the one in Frankfurt and Cologne, wasn't really for me anymore and I started to turn away. But then I got a tape in my hand. namely the Dragonfly Mix by Paul Oakenfold "A Voyage Into Trance" that has been released on Dragonfly Records and then I knew: Yes, that's exactly it! and I started looking for parties.I found exactly the place and the right party crowd and celebrated my first parties in Sauerland at a club called “Grube” in Siedlinghausen near Winterberg. You have to know that Siedlinghausen is not a big metropolis but a small town in the middle of nowhere.I don't remember who played there as a DJ or live act. Then came my first open air festival, the VooV Experience, then the Shiva Moon Festival & Antaris Project. 1995 I started organizing my own parties with a friend at the legendary "CULT" in Arnsberg-Neheim which took also placed in almost the middle of nowhere. At the time, the “CULT” was, along with the “Grube”, the epicenter of the indoor Goa party scene in Germany. About Dragonfly Records, UK (for those who don't yet know Dragonfly): Dragonfly Records, the trance arm of Butterfly Recordings, was a seminal label in the Electronic trance music lineage and arguably the first UK / European Goa Trance label. The label was founded by music producer Youth and based at his Butterfly Studios in Brixton, London. Butterfly Studios was home to an awesome setup with a 24 channel DDA desk, Amek 24 channel 2" Tape, Lexicon Reverbs, Eventide H3000, Ensoniq DP/4+, Bel Delay & Flanger and innumerable vintage Analogue & Digital Synthesizers. Dragonfly Records ran from 1993 - 2003 and was relaunched in December 2019 with a new installment of the Order Odonata series. This track selection represents the early phase of Dragonfly Records' now immense high quality output.
