Wirral Walks - Hooton - Hadlow Road Station - Willaston

A rather delightful 5 mile walk along the historic railway route which is now called the Wirral Way. Back in the 1860's a railway ran here between Hooton and eventually all the way through to West Kirby. Passenger services ending in the 1950's Hadlow Road is the better of the preserved stations, with the track, signal box and ticket office. A few miles further up the route you'll find the old platform at Thurstaston. With many a railway bridge along the route. This walk, however, began at Hooton and ended in the beautiful village of Willaston, with its hidden historic buildings scattered about. You tend to miss the historic aspects of the history of where you live as a child. Even though, in the main, it is more interesting and real than some of the history taught in schools. #hiking #historicrailway #railwaywalk #wirral
