Navigation and Obstacle Avoidance Sonar
Sonardyne's new Navigation and Obstacle Avoidance Sonar (NOAS) has been developed to meet the demand for an integrated forward look navigation and obstacle avoidance sonar coupled with the capability to provide an intruder detection function when the vessel is at a standstill. In 2-D mode NOAS provides long range navigation information so the vessel's pilot can steer a safe course. In 3-D mode it scans the water column to detect obstacles in front of the vessel including the sea bottom. Finally, when the vessel is stationary, NOAS has an intruder detection mode to protect the vessel against diver attack.
