Kur bakūžė samanota (Where is the Mossy Hut) Performed in 1926 by Lithuanian Singer and Choir Director Jonas Būtėnas (1892 - 1968) The Words were written as a Poem by Lithuanian patriot, Poet, Editor of the Banned Lithuanian press, Member of the National revival Pranas Vaičaitis (1876 - 1901). The words were later taken and made into a song by Lithuanian Composer Stasys Šimkus (1887 - 1943). It is a Melancholic song, Which speaks of the Poets youth, And the home he grew up in, The word Bakuze Samanota means Mossy Hut in the Lithuanian language, referring to the Poets own childhood home, In the second Verse of the Poem he speaks about how his home had become destroyed over time. Kur bakūžė samanota, Where is the Mossy Hut? Kurioje gimiau, Where i was born, Obelis kur augalota The Apple tree which grew? Ką sodne mačiau? What i saw in the garden?
