The M4 Sherman Medium Tank almost needs no introduction, even among those who aren't armor enthusiasts. It's the very first vehicle that practically put the words "American" and "Tank" together in a meaningful context. It's also, to an extent, the tank that won World War 2 --- it fought the Axis on every front, in almost every Allied military (even the Soviet Union used them!). But as for the notion of comparing it to the M1A2 Abrams SEP Main Battle Tank, almost everyone would dismiss the idea immediately, without ever giving it another thought. After all, the Sherman is overwhelmingly inferior in Mobility, Firepower, Protection, Surprise, Sustainability, and Production/Development Factors to every modern tank, and the M1A2 would defeat it completely, and in ever possible battle... ...right?
