The Nikka Trousers by Fjällräven [Review]

Visit Adventure Rig here: https://goo.gl/OzQc0M Comfort and protection are two key necessities for me when I’m exploring the outdoors. The Nikka Trousers by Fjällräven not only keep my legs protected from the elements, but they are also the most comfortable and durable pants I’ve ever worn. From the amazing fit, wonderful pocket placement, and durable yet wearable build, the Nikka Trousers continue to impress me wear after wear. First of all, we’ll touch on sizing because that has a big influence on comfort (for me). I was definitely intimidated by Fjällräven’s sizing and was really unsure of how these would fit. I was able to try two different sizes before settling on the 30/31”. Roughly, in US sizing, I am anywhere between a size 6 and 10 depending on the brand. I’m 5’10 and 150 pounds. Translated across, the size 30/31 converted to a US 10 and fits like a dream. Since I find their size chart rather confusing, I would highly suggest trying these on before you buy them! The Nikka Trousers come with a raw length leg ending so as to ensure you can get the best fit possible. Being 5’10, I very much respect this. I continually have a hard time finding pants that fit well in my waist but are long enough in the legs. With the raw length, you can ensure a perfect fit no matter what (I should mention that the hem is not raw, so if the length out of the box fits it is finished). The G-1000® fabric used to construct the Nikka Trousers has many benefits. First of all, this is a very durable and tough fabric but doesn’t feel like it when you throw these on. They are extremely comfortable to the touch and don’t make it feel like you’re wearing cardboard. Aside from being durable and comfortable, the G-1000® fabric is water and wind resistant to keep you dry and warm in the worst elements. The G-1000® fabric is also easy to adapt to different situations with Fjällräven’s Greenland Wax. Not only is this great to apply if you’ll be in adverse conditions, it also means that your pants don’t lose valuable benefits over time (you can reapply Greenland Wax at any time). G-1000® is also protective against UV rays and mosquitos so no matter what environment you find yourself in, you’ll be safe. The mix of stretch fabric and G-1000® fabric helps ensure a comfortable all day fit and protection where you need it most. You’ll notice reinforcement in the rear, knees, and cuffs which take care of all of the heavy wear areas guaranteeing these pants last a very long time. Pockets on women’s pants tend to be pretty pathetic and so I’m glad that Fjällräven is helping to shape the idea that women’s pants should be equally as functional as men’s pants. Not only do you have two zippered hand pockets that YOU CAN ACTUALLY FIT YOUR HANDS IN, you also have two super practical cargo pockets on the thighs. The cargo pockets are both snap closures and easy to fit a phone, map, snacks, and or knife in. Fjällräven didn’t put pockets on the rear of the pants, which I appreciate because to me, they are a waste of time, space, and discomfort. I love that while these are some of the most functional and durable pants I own, I do not have to feel like a total goon when I wear these in public. They are flattering and fitting and don’t look ridiculous. One point that’s worth mentioning is that these are a little bit more expensive than the average outdoor pant. I think that they are absolutely worth it and exceed their value in more ways than one. With the G-1000® you can continue to apply Greenland Wax to revive the wind and water protection time after time. Instead of more traditional pants that you have to get rid of after a year or two of wear, these can essentially be recycled. If you’re looking for a durable trekking trouser, I would highly recommend the Nikka Trousers by Fjällräven. They are comfortable, fit amazingly, and the durability will outlast anything else in your closet.
