Found this in my grand-father garage, I tried to rebuilt it for fun. At first it was not starting at all change the coil Coil pack where the same as the Johnson boat engine (same magneto) then it was stating and working but there was not torque, tough it was normal,old engine with big boat, but then I checked the spark plug (original one) to find out that only one was working. Change for brand new, was better but not as powerful as other 5HP on internet so I went further to the reed valve, fuel system, carb, engine internal and in the feet. (had to machine a part that broke and was causing friction) after that without spark plug I could crank the engine with 2 finger. Full tune-up New coil, New plug, re-adjust the breaker gap, clean the carb and engine internal with seafoam, add tension on reed valve (one was always a little bit open), re-oil all the internal with gear oil. First start was with a hell lots of smoke but after warming up it was brand new.
