Hi folks, in this before and after video, we share a simple improvement our maintenance staff made to reduce non-value-added time at one of our fabrication stations. By reducing the amount of non-essential travel time between cuts, we doubled the output of this process by saving 7 seconds on every cycle. This is significant for two reasons: first, this process was a bottleneck and was limiting the flow of material downstream in the factory, and second, we need to repeat this process over four hundred thousand times per year! Using forty hours per week, this improvement saved us over 19 weeks of non-value motion and wasted waiting per year! What is LEAN about?
