Cincinnati Museum Center's Moving Image Collection Presents the Beatles at the Cincinnati Gardens

On Aug. 27, 1964 in Cincinnati, the hottest ticket in town was to the Beatles concert at the Cincinnati Gardens. In celebration of the 50th anniversary of that historic concert, we bring you this WKRC-TV news footage from Cincinnati Museum Center's Moving Image Collection (Beatles Footage 1964, MI-95-75). Some of the footage has no audio, but you can hear about 42 seconds of the band performing at the Gardens, the music barely audible over fans' screams. The footage also shows: - The day after the concert at Cincinnati Gardens, including an exterior shot, and interior shots of the trash-strewn halls and arena. - Teenage girls entering a building. A close-up of a ticket shows that admission was $5.50. - The Beatles arriving by plane at Lunken Airport and climbing into limos, surrounded by fans and reporters. - Footage of concertgoers, mostly teenage girls, going through turnstiles at the Cincinnati Gardens. - Press conference footage with the Beatles and fans sitting in seats, waiting for concert. - The Beatles answering questions at a pre-concert press conference. - A WKRC reporter interviewing a fan named Fred, who talks about following around the Beatles on their concert tour and sneaking into their press conferences.
