Amitabh Bachchan, talks about when he was declared 'clinically dead' on the sets of Coolie in 1982

Amitabh Bachchan is a highly acclaimed Indian film actor, perhaps the most popular star in the history of Indian cinema. He is known primarily for his role in action films, baritone voice, and charismatic screen presence. Nicknamed “Big B,” he is regarded as an iconic and inspirational figure in the Hindi film industry (also called Bollywood). Amitabh’s career is significant for its longevity, the variety of his performances, and his contributions to Indian popular culture. The son of the late poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Teji Bachchan was born in Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh. Starting with the low-key Saat Hindustani, Bachchan performed many roles . He broke through with Zanjeer in 1973 playing opposite his real-life love interest and future wife Jaya Bhaduri. Bachchan reworked the image of the Hindi film hero with major hits like Deewar, Sholay, Trishul, Don , Mahan, Lawaris and Shakti. At the height of his popularity, he was injured in an accident while shooting for the film Coolie - long lines of people prayed for his recovery at the Breach Candy hospital, underscoring his mega-star status. He continues to be one of the busiest actors in Bollywood and on TV, as can be seen from the commercials on which he appears. There are no limits for this superstar and once the "Angry Young Man" of Bollywood. This exclusive interview with Amitabh Bachchan by Dr. Shan Chandrasekar President & CEO Of ATN Canada, is part of “ATN’s Tribute to 100 Years Of Indian Cinema” and a massive archive with celebrities of International Stature.
