2019 NMRA National Convention - Touring the TRAX Light Rail system and shops.

Utah's beautiful Wasatch Front has a light rail system called TRAX that serves the Salt Lake Area. Let's go behind the scenes and tour the shops! The HUGE shops service the scores of cars on the system rebuilding power trucks, electric brakes, electric couplers and overhead electrics. Trax serves the International Airport, the Intermodal Hub, Vivint Smart Home Arena (home of the Utah Jazz), Historic Temple Square, City Center, the University of Utah and Rio Tinto Stadium (home of Real Salt Lake). The TRAX Green Line currently runs from Salt Lake City International Airport near Terminal 1 to downtown connections in downtown Salt Lake City and on to West Valley. The Blue Line runs from the Intermodal Hub, a couple of blocks west of downtown (connections with FrontRunner to Ogden or Provo and Amtrak's California Zephyr), through downtown, and on to the south end of the Salt Lake Valley (Draper Town Center near 12300 South). The red line runs eastward to the University of Utah and the University of Utah Medical Center, and westward to South Jordan and Daybreak. Transfers to the eastbound Red Line take place at the Courthouse stop at 450 So. Main Street, which is important for travelers heading to the University area who have arrived from the airport or FrontRunner commuter rail. There is also an "S" Line streetcar connecting Salt Lake's popular Sugar House district with the main TRAX lines. TRAX stops near all three of Salt Lake City's major malls, the central business district, Temple Square, Gallivan Plaza and many other top visitor destinations. https://www.visitutah.com/plan-your-t...
