BMW Z3 N52 engine overheating diagnostics and solution.

After doing an incomplete cooling system overhaul I took out my car after winter storage for the first time today. On the way to work it started overheating. I pulled over and I had it towed back. I was sure it was due to the thermostat being shut closed because I use tapwater to mix with the coolant. I was in for a surprise when I change the thermostat and it was still overheating. after a thorough diagnostics of the entire cooling system I saw that the electric fan was not working and I was able to troubleshoot and fix the problem. The fan clutch was not working. and most shockingly the water pump that I replace 20,000 miles ago was BROKEN. So I thought it was the thermostat and it really was the more water pump as a main problem and the accessory cooling devices such as the electric fan and the fan clutch as a secondary problem.
