Julian Lage - Guitar Jorge Roeder - Bass Dave King - Drums "Temple Steps" begins at 7:45 Julian and his trio co-headlined with The Bad Plus. The video starts after Julian says "One more song." Dave insists that they can probably "sneak in two." Julian remembers that Daves in both bands on the bill that night! Julian's playing was stellar that night. These two closing songs, "Let Every Room Sing" and "Temple Steps," both from his then-recent Blue Note release "View With A Room" gave such a rich range of harmonic, dynamic, and emotional expression. "Temple Steps," especially, crossed Blues moods and modes from "syrup" to "stomper" to "scorcher" and everything in between; even flashes of metal riffage appear. I felt the spirit of another guitar-nerd take on Tent Revival Gospel: "Praise Be!" from George Barnes and Carl Kress' 1963 Town Hall Concert. Great way to end. I do not own the rights to these songs.
