In Taubaté, São Paulo, a residence designed by the Andrea Murao Arquitetura e Interiores studio exemplifies the harmonious blend of nature, comfort, and contemporary design. With 500m² of built area on a 880m² plot, the project, completed between 2021 and 2022, was conceived for a modern couple in their mid-50s. With independent children, the couple sought a home that would reflect their current lifestyle, offering comfort and a strong connection with nature, despite the surrounding buildings. One of the major challenges of the project was integrating the house with the natural environment, even with neighboring constructions. A key feature is the swimming lane, which required creative design solutions to fit within the limited space. To optimize the relationship between interior and exterior, strategies were implemented to maximize natural light and promote cross-ventilation. Additionally, the use of aluminum mashrabiya in the entrance hall creates a private, functional indoor garden. The color palette and materials reinforce the contemporary identity of the residence. The gray structure and modern window frames contrast with strategically placed wood and green elements. Branco Paraná marble and Green Pantanal Quartzite, used in countertops and coverings, add a sophisticated yet natural touch to the space, balancing rusticity and modernity in a subtle way. Spread over two floors, the residence offers practicality and comfort. On the ground floor are the social areas and the master suite, all oriented towards the pool, along with spaces such as the TV room, wine cellar, and gourmet area. Custom-made cabinetry enhances the integration of these spaces. On the upper floor, the children’s bedrooms follow the same natural style, featuring wood and woven straw details, while the gym, connected to the balcony, provides a space for contemplation and integration with the outdoors.
