Heat rash is also known as eccrine miliaria, heat rash, prickly heat, or sweat rash, and is a frequently seen skin condition triggered by blocked eccrine sweat glands and ducts. We also look at examples of heat rash on different skin types with example photos. SYMPTOMS The symptoms of heat rash are: small, raised spots an itchy, prickly feeling mild swelling The rash often looks red, but this may be less obvious on brown or black skin. The symptoms of heat rash are often the same in adults and children. Heat rash TREATMENT: The main thing to do is keep your skin cool so you do not sweat and irritate the rash. To keep your skin cool 1. wear loose cotton clothing 2. use lightweight bedding 3. take cool baths or showers 4. drink plenty of fluid to avoid dehydration To calm the itching or prickly feeling 1. apply something cold, such as a damp cloth or ice pack (wrapped in a tea towel) for up to 20 minutes 2. tap or pat the rash instead of scratching it 3. do not use perfumed shower gels or creams Content and TIMESTAMPS: 00:00 - Introduction 00:24 - Causes of heat rash 00:47 - Symptoms of heat rash (plus photos) 01:15 - Prevention and treatment of heat rash 02:08 - When to see a doctor Further information on Heat Rash: Cleveland Clinic information: https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health...
