India Grabbing Bangladesh Navy’s Frigate Program: Reportedly indian shipyard is going to bag the contract of building 6 frigates for the Bangladesh Navy. BD Navy initiated its High-Performance Guided Missile Frigate Program under the Forces Goal – 2030 modernization plan. Initially it was deemed that the design would be based on the Chinese Type-054A guided-missile frigate. At that time Myanmar military junta started an oppressive military operation on the Rohingya people in the Arakan/Rakhine state. One million Rohingya fled to Bangladesh as refugees. The Government of Bangladesh blamed China for backing Myanmar in this crisis and cancelled the Chinese frigate design. After that things changed, Bangladesh Armed Forces set their goal to acquire mainly NATO standard weapons and moved on several other sources from China. But the current regime in Bangladesh cannot ignore india’s direction for many domains as Delhi helped the regime to stay in power for long.
