Seminar Abstract: ‪@levitasbio1505‬ has developed Levitation Technology to address the challenges of dead cells and debris contaminants that often lead to deleterious effects on downstream assays. Unlike other cell separation methods, our LeviCell platform does not require labeling or staining and does not cause cellular stress or processing-induced activation. Healthy cells are enriched based on their intrinsic properties coupled with magnetic forces existing in the sample solution. This results in a single-cell suspension ready for immediate sequencing library preparation or subsequent processing, producing molecular profiles free of sample prep-induced gene expression artifacts. In addition, we have developed reagents that extend the technology to yield viable cell samples enriched with the desired cell types of interest. Our unique levitation process rescues and unlocks otherwise difficult-to-work-with, limited (less than 100k cells), and low viability (less than 40%) samples by removing contaminants and maximizing cell recovery.
