Metrix+ UTM90CT is an ultrasonic thikcness meter, with through coating mode to measure the coating thickness as well the substrate thickness beneath the coating. The through coating mode allows measurement of coating on non-metallic substrates like concrete, etc. This video shows how it measures thickness of a metallic block with slots on the bottom surface, shown by change in thickness values. The data can be stored in a matrix, retrievable via a PC interface, which also calculates max/ min/ avg statistics for a group. Even A-scan and B-scan images can be stored, and seen on a PC for further analysis. A-scan and B-scan help in detecting flaws, holes,.pits, etc inside a surface.
