7 Things Movie Watchers Won't Know about Sirius Black - Harry Potter Explained

Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today, we’re discussing Sirius Black- Esteemed wizard, Marauder, Godfather, and hero. Sirius Black, who started at Hogwarts in 1971 alongside the other Marauders, hailed from the ‘Black’ family- a powerful pure-blood wizarding family that placed an incredible amount of emphasis on the importance of ‘blood purity’. Remarkably, however, Sirius was able to pave his own way in life and form his own opinions- which ultimately led to him being shunned from the family. With that said, however, Sirius went on to become a better man than any of his ancestors. He vowed not to let his lineage determine the man he would become, and once wisely said: "We've all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That's who we really are." The goodness in Sirius’s heart eventually led to a friendship with James Potter, Harry’s father- and well, the rest is history. Being friends with James meant that he would eventually become our boy Harry’s godfather, which is part of the reason that Sirius ended up being such an integral part of the story. However, with that said, there are actually a lot of things pertaining to Sirius’s character that were entirely left out of the films. If you’ve read the books, you’ll know him a little better, but if you’re a movie only person- you’ve only seen a fraction of the man that Sirius Black truly is. Because Sirius doesn’t make an appearance in that many films (being introduced late and dying early), he doesn’t actually get a lot of screen time, which is why today I want to discuss 7 pieces of information pertaining to Sirius Black that movie watcher’s won’t know.
