John Prine - Clocks and Spoons (Cover)

This week’s cover song ‘Clocks and Spoons’ by John Prine. This song was featured on his 1972 album ‘Diamonds in the Rough’. Though this was his second album, it featured a lot of his earliest songs hence why it has more stripped-down production. This is the second time I have covered John Prine and I’m surprised I haven’t covered more of his songs given his immense influence on folk and country music. Many well-known musicians cite him as an inspiration including Johnny Cash and Roger Waters (as well as others). He is sometimes referred to as the ‘Mark Twain’ of songwriting which kinda means nothing to me cos I’ve never read Mark Twain lol but still, it’s a cool label to have. You may be aware that Prine tragically died of Covid-19 in 2020. I really loved learning and recording this song and I really hope I have done it justice.
