Listen: 'Classical Blues Fusion With a Bit of Welding'. Copyright © 2018-2020 Dave Patterson Read: '500 Years of Lies - Discover the Extraordinary Number of Native Indian Gifts to the World' Passage #36: Tax systems varied between voluntary setups in North America, and the more common tribute methods elsewhere, whereby workers contributed labour for the maintenance of roads, building of pyramids, maintenance of suspension bridges, civil engineering, farming, etc. In return, a social welfare system meant no one went hungry, including those injured by their work. Disability rights laws also protected all blind and disabled citizens, providing them with special work provisions, encouragement to marry and participate in mainstream activities and having basic needs met when they could not entirely furnish a livelihood for themselves. The elderly and those with chronic diseases were also taken care of. This setup was in stark contrast to Europe. Rulers normally ignored the disabled who were typically homeless and living on the streets. The Inquisition of the 1400s meant the killing of disabled throughout Europe. They were thought to be possessed by demons. England’s debtor prison system came to include these same handicapped and poor individuals, a concept moved overseas with the implementation of “poor farms” and “county farms” in the United States. The thousands of subcultures in the Western Hemisphere were destined to evolve into thousands of political systems and smaller subsystems. It is the sum total of these contributions that are worthy of note and worthy of study. The totality of the distilled ideas for government astounds Indigenous Studies students worldwide. Ideally, the recognition for these inspirational ideas will follow at some point. Until that happens, we can continue to be inspired by the innovative thoughts themselves, and concentrate on putting the better ones to use in humanity’s upward trek. Technology Nothing catches our attention like technology, right? The world is quick to adopt a desirable change nowadays, and it was quick to adopt a desirable change then. Prior to 1492, any community through the ages would naturally have infrastructure with its divisions. The difference in the world after 1492 is the appearance of new ways of doing things within those infrastructures, the introduction of techniques and products from around the world, and the sharing or trading of all things desirable to others. Now I share information in an attempt to impress you, the reader, with exciting information you may or may not have on your radar.
