Hi everyone! :D We are extremely excited to finally be able to release our first song, You Are Worth It, to raise awareness for and encourage those struggling with depression. Just two short months ago, this group was formed from a flip-of-the-dime, spontaneous post in a UBC FaceBook group proposing the idea of creating a club like this, and a Messenger group-chat made shortly after of complete strangers who had nothing in common save for responding to the post. Yet here we are, two months later, proudly releasing our first song to our community after working together, building everything from the ground up. It’s a really huge milestone for us :D HUGE shoutout to all the anonymous UBC students who contributed to this song by sharing their insights into what it’s like dealing with depression, as well as the anonymous editors who helped review the lyrics after the draft was completed. None of us would be in this position right now without you, yanno :P ~~~~~~~~~~~ ABOUT MUSIC FOR MENTAL HEALTH: Music for Mental Health is a newly founded, independent group of UBC students that plans to raise awareness and fundraise for various mental health issues through creating music. We strive to connect with our community through music, as well as a mutual understanding and passion toward destigmatizing issues in the realm of mental health.
