El Claustro es considerado una joya de la escultura románica, de los más importantes de Europa, y uno de los mejor conservados. Destaca la decoración de sus 144 capiteles únicos. La Iglesia es un lugar privilegiado para poder observar claramente la transición del románico al gótico. La construcción del Claustro empieza hacia el año 1190, gracias a la donación testamentaria de Guillem de Claramunt, que quiere ser enterrado en este espacio próximo a la tumba del mártir Cugat. Las edificación del conjunto monástico finalizará en 1220, dejando para la posteridad una de las joyas del románico europeo. The Monastery of Sant Cugat is one of the greatest examples of medieval art in Catalonia. The Cloister is considered a jewel of Romanesque sculpture, one of the most important in Europe, and one of the best preserved. The decoration of its 144 unique capitals is particularly impressive.
