Welcome to the latest shop project! This 1971 Datsun 521 came into my life last year, and aside from getting it running and converting the front brakes to discs, it's mostly just been sitting out back of the shop waiting for some love. Well, today we're taking it down to see Garrett at Trick'd Toys, and he's going to install a custom frame notch so we can start the process of putting this mini down on the ground where it belongs! Follow along as we cover the design process, from measuring and making paper templates to cutting on a CNC plasma table, and finally welding everything into place.
