Fotodiox Pro Pronto

This is the Fotodiox Pronto Adapter which allows Sony Cameras to attach and autofocus Leica M mount lenses, or any manual focus lens with the proper adapter. It works by moving the flange distance back and forth by 4mm in order to autofocus a manual lens. I tested this adapter with my Olympus 24, 50, and 85mm lens. The video shows how long it takes to autofocus with each lens. It's pretty fast even on the 85mm but it's a bit limited for telephotos because the flange can only move by 4mm. Which means if you set the lens focus to infinity, you lose out on the minimum focus distance. On the flip side is if you set the lens to the minimum focus distance and fully extend the adapter, you can use this like a macro extension ring. The video shows side by side the normal MFD and maximum achievable magnification with the adapter extended. There are some issues with this adapter, notably the motor makes quite a bit of noise so not suitable for video. The adapter doesn't work in movie mode anyway. Secondly, there is no tripod mount on the bottom of the adapter and can get in the way of the quick release plate on the camera. It's also a bit unbalanced depending on the lens used. Overall it does what is advertised but with some practical limitations.
