Pineapple Rag & Euphonic Sounds - original 65-note piano roll

A roll with a dreadful repair of its missing leader that gives the strange effect of a cacophony out of which Joplin's Pineapple Rag gradually emerges. This is an original Aeolian 65-note roll, arranged from sheet music - not hand played. The music is relatively close to the published version, with a few additions (probably by George Swift, Aeolian's lead arranger). This is fairly late for a 65-note roll issue, because Euphonic Sounds was published 30 October 1909. Pineapple Rag was published a year earlier, 12 October 1908. Jasen & Tichenor's 'Rags and Ragtime' note that this pairing was issued on 88-note Universal roll 92715 (recorded in 1972 for Biograph BLP1010Q 'Scott Joplin Vol 3'). It was Aeolian's practise to issue music in many forms, so everything was issued in both formats around this date. Unfortunately, because both box and leader are mssing this 65-note issue's details are unknown. Played on my late-1908 65/88 note Gotha Steck Pianola Grand. Pianolist Julian Dyer.
