Join us behind the scenes of the recording sessions for 'All these Lighted Things'. This album not only marks Elim Chan's debut album but also serves as a cherished memento of her tenure as chief conductor with the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra. Anyone who has seen conductor Elim Chan at work is undoubtedly familiar with the energy she displays at the baton. She thrives like no other when ballet music is included in the programme: pieces that use the same vitality to translate the rhythm of the dance to the symphonic orchestra. Together with the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, where she has been principal conductor since 2019, Elim presents a highly personal selection from over a century of ballet music. At the beginning of the 20th century, ballet and symphonic music became closely intertwined. Les Ballets Russes created a stir in Paris with Diaghilev and Nijinsky. For them, Maurice Ravel wrote his Daphnis et Chloé, which premiered there in 1912. The same fire that conquered Paris and the world was expressed by Sergei Prokofiev in his music for the ballet Romeo and Juliet. Almost a hundred years later, American composer Elizabeth Ogonek wrote All These Lighted Things (Three Little Dances for Orchestra), an orchestral work waiting for a choreographer. Elim Chan and the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra perform an energetic interpretation of these groundbreaking ballet works. https://lnk.to/AllTheseLightedThingsAr #recording #cd #ElimChan #AntwerpSymphonyOrchestra
