The power or RAW or convenience of JPEG – which will win

JPEG photo format is very convenient. You can take advantage of so many automatic functions of the camera: film simulation, lens distortion correction, face recognition, automatic handling of color, sharpness, tone. The JPEG files are smaller and your photography pipeline becomes much faster and easier. In many situations JPEG is all you need. However, if you want more creative freedom or want to photograph in extreme contrast, color or light situation the RAW file approach is a clear winner. Sure it requires skill and time but this investments is usually worth it. In my video I discuss the JPEG vs RAW file dilemma in photography. You will see many examples where I show JPEG and RAW photos (taken at the same time) side by side. You can judge by yourself how much better one can make photos look when they originate from RAW files.
