I’m here to teach you how you can save thousands of dollars in attorney’s fees through some simple tricks. I’m not selling anything here. This is purely educational and informative. Hi I'm Matthew Harris, Chief Attorney at Matthew Harris Law. Hiring an attorney is expensive. It is expensive because litigation requires hours upon hours of detailed work that costs hundreds of dollars per hour. Unfortunately, some cases do not get the justice they deserve simply due to these costs. Today we're going to discuss how you can save thousands of dollars in attorney’s fees to avoid something like this from happening to you... Client: I think I’ve got a really big case that I need you to represent me on. Attorney: I see, but just so you know, cases are hard to win without evidence. Client: Oh don’t you worry. I’ve got LOTS of evidence! I’ve got emails. I’ve got text messages. I’ve got pictures. I’ve got videos and recordings and… Attorney: Ok, hold on just a minute. Is this stack emails and this stack text messages? Client: No, they’re just all kind of mixed in together BUT I’ve organized them by day of the week. These are for Mondays and these are for Tuesdays and… Attorney: Well judging by what you have here… Client: There’s more… Attorney: Do what now? Client: I have more at home in more boxes and I have more text messages in these old phones that you can look through. Attorney: Oh goodness. Alright, well it seems that it’s going to take me a lot more time to review your case than I had anticipated, which is probably going to cost a lot more money than we had discussed. Client: Oh. In our experience, discovery, exhibits, and document review is the most expensive part of any case. When you go to trial, you need to be able to provide the Judge or Jury with clean, clear, and straightforward Exhibits. Our “client” in today’s video is well-meaning, and kudos to her for getting the files to her attorney, but she’s definitely going to incur extra legal fees. Simply put, it will take extra time just for the attorney to organize her documents, and then arrange them in a way for them to be useful trial exhibits. So, how could our client save herself potentially thousands of dollars in attorney’s fees? Dropbox. Dropbox is a simple file-sharing service that you can download on your phone so you can share files with your attorney. If you’re our client, then we probably told you to watch this video so you can immediately set up your Dropbox and start sharing your files with your attorney. You can find the Dropbox App for Android or Apple in your phone’s App Store, so we’re just going to jump right in. Here we are in the Dropbox App. If you already have an account, then you simply sign in. If you don’t have an account, you can sign in with your Google Account, your Apple Account, or create a new account. For this demonstration, we’re going to sign in using a Google Account. Dropbox will confirm permission to access your account, so you’ll click on ALLOW. Since this Google account didn’t already have an associated Dropbox account, it will ask us to create one. Check the box and Create Account. From here, the app launches directly into your Dropbox files. The first thing you need to do is click the PLUS icon, then click on “CREATE NEW FOLDER” This first folder you create is VERY important because it will be your Master folder. This is the folder that you’re going to share with us, and we want to show that this is an attorney-client communication. We do that by naming the folder “FOR MY ATTORNEY” Now, as you can imagine, as a Firm if we had several hundred files with the same name, then it may get confusing, so you MUST include your name in the file name as well. Let me show you. Our Client, Fred Smith, is naming this folder Smith Comma Fred, DASH For My Attorney. Once you creat How to save money? How to save money on attorney's fees?
