Collodion Basics Part 5: Pouring the Plate

This is the sixth of ten videos in a series meant to demonstrate the basics of wet plate photography. Following all the way through should teach you everything you need to outfit yourself and start making your first tintype photos. In this installment, I cover the basic technique of coating the plate in collodion by pouring a puddle of it onto the plate and rolling it around to the four corners. After that I load the plate into the silver nitrate bath and carry it into the darkroom, where I load it into the plate holder for exposure after the plate has sensitized.
