The Jaguar XJ Series 1, 2, 3, XJ40, X300 & X308 plus XJS cars | XJ6, XJ12, XJR etc

This collection features the classic Jaguar XJ6 & XJ12 saloons & coupes, plus the XJ-S/XJS coupes and convertibles. Daimler variants of the various XJ saloons and coupes are also included. The XJ6 Series 1 went on sale in 1968 and replaced a number of models in Jaguar's saloon-car line-up of the 1960s (S-Type, 420, 420G, Mk2 etc). The XJ6 & XJ12 Series 2 and Series 3 took over as the 1970s creaked along, to be followed by the more angular XJ40 and later the X300 and X308 series, all of which were available as Jaguars or Daimlers, with a choice of engines under their bonnets. Six-, eight- and twelve-cylinder XJs would ultimately be offered during the life of the "classic" XJs. I've always had a soft spot for the Series 1 XJs having owned three many years ago, but perhaps the most sought-after of all the XJs is the Series 2 coupe, either the XJ 4.2C or the XJ 5.3C, made famous by not just the racing Broadspeed-prepared XJ12s in the 1970s but also by the much-modified coupe that featured on "The New Avengers" TV series of the day. An XJ-S also starred as I recall. I've also included a selection of Jaguar XJ-S and XJS coupes and convertibles, alas I couldn't lay my hands on a photo of an XJ-SC cabriolet within my files of photos taken at shows over the last 15+ years, but no doubt one will turn up once this video has been published (!). I did however turn up photos of the rare Lynx Eventer estate conversion, and another of a one-off XJS hatchback engineered by an enterprising individual in his home garage. Newest of the XJs to feature are the X300 and later V8-powered X308 saloons, including my much-missed '98 XJR V8. Various videos relating to classic Jaguars are to be found on the channel. These include brochure reviews for the Mk2 and the 420 range, and also a look at rare literature relating to coachbuilt XJ40s - namely a stretched limousine, and a stylish twin-turbo, two-door coupe conversion undertaken on an XJ40 saloon.
