In this video I show you how to clean and speed up a Windows 8 computer using a couple easy tools. Step-by-step instructions are below along with a download list for the programs used. Note: for Malwarebytes, select the free version. Downloads: CCleaner: http://download.cnet.com/CCleaner/ Malwarebytes: https://www.malwarebytes.org/ Step-by-Step Instructions: Step 1: Disk Cleanup 0:15 -Click on start icon (bottom left) -Choose "Computer" -Right-Click on Windows 8 Drive (C:) -Select "Properties" -Click on "Disk Cleanup" Step 2: Disk Optimization 1:54 -Same properties menu as above -Click on the "Tools" tab at the top -Select "Optimize" -Choose Disk Drive (C:) -Select Analyze -If at or above 5% fragmented, then select "Optimize" -If below 5% fragmented, leave the menu Step 3: CCleaner 4:04 -Download CCleaner: http://download.cnet.com/CCleaner/ -Open up CCleaner -Leave default settings (can change them around if you really want to) -Select "Analyze" -After it is analyzed, select "Run Cleaner" -Select "OK" if it asks your permission to run Step 4: Windows Update 6:08 -Click on Start Menu (bottom left) -Type in "Windows Update" in the search bar -Select "Windows Update" -Select "Check for Updates" -Install updates labeled as "Important" (you can also choose to install "Optional" updates) Step 5: Windows Defender 7:10 -Click on Start Menu (bottom left) -Type in "Windows Defender" in the search bar -Select "Windows Defender" -Click on the "Update" tab -When it's done updating, click on "Scan Now" -Wait for it to finish scanning Step 6: Malwarebytes 8:17 -Download Malwarebytes: https://www.malwarebytes.org/ -Select "Free" version, not paid (I recommend NOT opting in to the free Premium trial during installation) -Select "Update Now" -Select "Scan" -Wait for it to finish scanning That's it!
