Nasi Kukus restaurants will have large aluminium steamers filled with individual portions of rice that are kept piping hot before serving. Made up of freshly steamed rice and topped with a mix of gulai or curry sauces and often served with sambal belacan, ayam goreng (fried chicken), ikan bilis (fried anchovies) and at Nasi Kukus Ilham where we ate- caramelised pineapple- this is a MUST EAT dish!
