Today we're gonna take a look at the Kodiak Disc Break Kit with the 11.35" rotor for 12,000 pound AL-KO axles with the #120 spindles. Now, these brake assemblies make it very easy to change from an idler axle to a disk brake axle. Disk brakes will deliver better performance than drum brakes. It gives you more consistent stopping, even at highway speeds. And also, dramatically shorter stopping distances. Also, the maintenance costs are lower than for drum brakes because you have fewer moving parts that you have to maintain, repair, or replace. Now, this kit is a slip-on cast iron over the hub rotor. It's designed to fit over idler hubs. They are held in place by the included bolt. And, the rotor space, which is this section right here I've already bolted to the rotors, these rotor spacers will ensure proper positioning of the rotor. It's also a vented design rotor, so it does prevent heat related damage with the vented design. That vented design will effectively dissipate the heat. Now, on the calipers and the caliper brackets, they have an E-coat finish on them, which will provide corrosion resistance for fresh water and limited salt water use. The calipers are cast iron caliper, they are self adjusting for smooth equal braking. And, the cast iron construction does not flex like aluminum. They do offer a low drag design, which will retract the piston further than other calipers for cooler running brake. They do use the stainless steel pistons, you can see right down here. These are 2 1/2" in diameter, and that's about 30% larger than other brands. So because of that it'll give you more braking torque than the competition. They do use these high performance ceramic brake pads on the calipers. Now, these mounting brackets, these caliper mounting brackets, they are ductile iron. They provide strength and durability. They are a side support design, so it ensures the load is placed on the whole bracket, not just the bolt. And, they do give you the extra embossing for additional thread contact to ensure a tight secure mounting for the caliper guide bolts. Now, this kit does include everything laid out here on the table. It's for two full brake assemblies. You get the two machine finish cast iron rotors, the two rotor spacers, the two E-coated cast iron calipers, the two E-coated ductile iron caliper mounting brackets, the four stainless steel caliper mounting bolts with brackets, and then these two screw-on center caps. Now, a hydraulic brake actuator and brake lines are required for your brakes to be activated. Those we do sell separately if you need them. If you do need them, they do require PSI rating of at least 1500 PSI. These parts are made in the USA. A few specs on this, they are designed to fit a 12,000 pound axle, and it's an AL-KO type with a #120 spindle. The rotor diameter on these is 11.35", the pilot hole diameter in the back of the rotor is 4.88". But, that should do it for the review on the Kodiak Disk Brake Kit with the 11.35" rotor for 12,000 pound AL-KO axles with the #120 spindles.
