"Ballad of Reading Gaol" - Original Song

I started work on this piece about 4-5 years ago as a birthday present for my best friend - but what with writing the parts, trying to recruit musicians to record the parts, and still learning about how to mix and produce my own music, this project kept getting pushed back into the WIP pile over and over again. I finally decided to make it happen this year and used a combination of real recordings, MIDI, and Finale Audio Units to achieve the final track, and while I would have preferred to have had real instruments on everything and a more polished vocal line, I can still say I'm pretty happy with the final result! The text was written by Oscar Wilde. If you know his poem 'The Ballad of Reading Gaol', you'll notice that this song only covers a small portion of the text. (Though, it might be a cool future project to write a larger-scale piece that goes through the entire Ballad, so maybe one day I'll take the time to do it!)
