To solidify the connection, she sent emissaries, including Aluel Mabior, to visit Nyaluak’s family in Lekyak and gauge their thoughts on the potential marriage. The engagement ceremony took place on 24 June 2023, in a grand and traditional display of unity and celebration. The meaningful exchange of a valuable $5,000 jewel (guët) and ten cows served to cement the bond between the two families. In the presence of relatives, clans, and the public, Nyaluak was officially engaged to Mariar in a ceremony that will be remembered for years to come. Till now, the family of Akech Achiek Dor has pledged 300 cattle to Wut Keer (Thiek Rothii), with everything finalised after verification of the fledged cattle in Bor by Dr. Malual Ayom Dor and Elders of Deng Kuol and Keer . The amalgamation of cattle and crowds created a breathtaking scene, signifying a pivotal moment in the lives of both Mariar and Nyaluak. Despite an earlier attempt to find a co-wife that did not come to fruition, Man-Yom persisted, bringing her husband’s attention to Nyaluak and orchestrating the events that led to this joyous day.
