Vlog 79: This week including my formal teacher evaluation, blended learning stations, and small group instruction for students that needed targeted interventions (based on their most recent test performance). Subscribe (http://bit.ly/bwjsubscribe) and "Bond with James" so that you don't miss out on updates of my weekly High School Teacher Vlog series, A Week in the Life of a Teacher! ___________________________________________________________________ Check out my resources or other social media pages @bondwithjames (Facebook, Instagram, Teachers Pay Teachers) __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I was unsure of a time to have my formal teacher evaluation completed because of the work with my student teacher, my mentees, and the other chemistry teacher. While I'm feeling better this year, I am managing a lot of things. To be honest, my teacher evaluation was the last thing on my mind. However, I know admin has deadlines and I literally just chose a date after PSAT. Fortunately, this worked out for me because I had alerady scheduled the Atomic Structure Blending Learning Stations and was using that as another opportunity to practice small group instruction. Not the other small group instruction attempts failed; I just felt that I needed a better implementation plan. Implementing the blended learning stations and small group instruction during the evaluation was an excellent opportunity for me to receive feedback because (1) I've never been observed implementing small group instruction while another activity was going on, (2) the class being observed is my largest class, and (3) there are a few behavioral issues that I deal with on a frequent basis. Therefore, I knew I wanted to obtain feedback that would help me develop my skills. I also forgot to mention in the video (and I said this last year), but I didn't tell my students that I was being observed. I wanted the students to behave as they usually would and they did (although, this sometimes doesn't happen for some teachers). Overall, I felt it went well and now I am just waiting to receive the evaluation feedback. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ If you have any questions about this particular video, then leave a comment, and I'll answer as soon as I can.
