Learn How to Handstand: Exercises and Drills to Prepare you for Handstands - Power Yoga

In this 40 minute advanced power yoga practice I am offering you to follow along with a set of exercises and drills that will prepare you for handstands. There is no magic here. Your body needs to be ready to learn how to handstand. So here will will work on both strength and flexibility, stamina and resilience, strong and peaceful mind as well as deep breathing. Learn how to handstand with the help of carefully selected exercises and drills that are presented to you in this advanced power yoga class. This 40 minute advanced power yoga practice will focus on the main skills, drills, strength building exercises and stretches that are required to prepare our body and mind for such a challenging inversion as a handstand. You do not have to know how to hold a handstand for this practice. This is where we are learning to do it. Getting ready for it. It is an advanced practice because of the amount of effort it will require. Long plank holds, exercises for your core. But nothing impossible. Our intention will be to increase our stamina and resilience while maintaining deep slow breathing and calm mind. Get ready for many plank holds and its variations, as well as exercises to increase strength in abdominal muscles and hip flexors, open the shoulders, and stretch through entire backside of the body. We will finish with a few rounds of 30 secs handstand holds by the wall. Put your best effort into this practice, rise up to a challenge but always remain mindful of your own body and signals it is sending you. Take breaks and modify if necessary. I do not expect that this practice will be easy. But the more often you repeat it the easier it will become. So repeat this sequence as often as possible until you do not need to take breaks any more. For this practice you will need a wall. This practice does not have background music so you can choose to play your own motivating and inspiring playlist that will help you push through your limitation on the way to handstands.
