Es geht um Lebensphilosophien, die Beziehung zur Natur, Sorgen und Zukunftsträume. Und ist gleichzeitig eine Reise in die Tiefen der Schamanenwelt. Der Film ist aber auch ein Zeitzeugnis des Überlebenskampfes der Nomadenvölker, denn ihre physische und kulturelle Zukunft ist massiv vom Klimawandel bedroht. Zusätzlich wird ihr Lebensraum mehr und mehr zerstört. Mit dem Film löst Regisseurin Halla das Versprechen ein, die Zukunftssorgen der Nomaden in die Welt hinauszutragen. THE SHAMANS‘ NIGHTMARE Ecuador, Malaysia, Namibia and Mongolia. The Austrian Natalie Halla travels to four extreme corners of this world to visit four nomadic peoples and their shamans. On the one hand, it is about philosophies of life, the relationship to nature and worries and dreams for the future. Yet on the other, it is a journey into the depths of the shamanic world. The film is also a contemporary testimony of the nomadic peoples’ struggle for survival, as their physical and cultural future is so massively threatened by climate change and their habitat is destroyed more and more. With “THE SHAMANS‘ NIGHTMARE”, director Halla fulfils her promise to bring the nomad’s concerns about the future to the Western world.
