My Gear VR headset has always felt a bit uncomfortable because the foam face piece seems too thin where it rests on my cheek bones. As a result, the lenses aim down instead of being perpendicular to my eyes and I get blur... I also feel pressure on top of my nose and this becomes painful through prolonged use. I wanted to add thickness to the foam face pad for the Gear VR without damaging it or doing anything permanent. Since the goggle foam pad is attached using velcro I discovered that I could add another layer of velcro in between it and the headset (acting as a shim) to customize the fit and comfort for my face. What you'll need: Velcro strips with adhesive backs: $2.98 http://amzn.to/1NkJJzb Some cardboard to layer between the strips... I used part of the box that my velcro arrived in from Amazon but you can use different thicknesses to suit your own needs. Also, just for fun in this video I weighed the Innovator Edition for the Samsung S6 phone and compared it with the Consumer Edition. Without their straps and shields the units weighed out at 270 Grams and 244 Grams respectively... but if you add the plastic shield over your Consumer headset the weight jumps up to 277 Grams. The two headsets are really very similar in weight. Music used in this video: Never Sleep by Gunnar Olsen
